Campsites

These are maintained by the Department of Conservation. The sites have tap water (needs to be treated for Giardia), toilets, toilet paper and tent site platforms.

Campsite Locations: Tinline Bay, Appletree Bay, Akersten Bay, Observation Beach, Watering Cove, Te Pukatea Bay, Anchorage, Medlands Beach, Bark Bay, Mosquito Bay, Tonga Quarry, Onetahuti Beach, Awaroa Inlet, Waiharakeke Bay, Totoranui, Anapai Bay, Mutton Cove, Whariwharangi.

Bookings: Passes must be booked and purchased prior to departure into the park. Campsite bookings can be placed online at the DoC Online Bookings website.

We can also arrange campsite booking for you. We offer a free DoC booking service with our Overnight Guided Combo trips.

Huts

These are maintained by the Department of Conservation. Huts have gas or wood heating, tap water (needs to be treated for Giardia), toilets, toilet paper, tables and tent site platforms. Huts do not have cookers or lighting.

Hut Locations: Anchorage, Bark Bay, Awaroa, Whariwharangi.

Boat Stays

There are two companies that operate in the Abel Tasman National Park offering boat stays at Anchorage during summer.

Aquapackers

Stay in the Abel Tasman's floating accommodation - backpackers dorms and private rooms available in the park.

Catamaran Sailing & Launch Charters

Hosted bed & breakfast style yacht accommodation in the heart of Abel Tasman National Park waters, staying on a comfortable 13 metre sailing catamaran. Join the yacht for a short evening sail (optional) before anchoring for the night in a quiet bay. Relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the bush clad hills and golden beaches. The skipper as your host provides a delicious meal, sleep in a comfortable bed followed by breakfast the next morning. Enjoy small guest numbers with maximum 8 people in private doubles or twin share (actual cabin arrangements vary with each yacht).

Pick-up Point: Anchorage Beach 4:30pm (in front of DOC hut) or other by arrangement. The yacht will stay on anchor at Anchorage Bay, Te Puketea Bay, Adele Island or other bay as decided by the skipper. Depart vessel 9:00am.
